Transforming filter production with automation

Porvair Filtration Group is an international leader in the development and supply of high performance, innovative materials and solutions for applications in filtration and separation.

The challenge

The Porvair Resweld team spent a lot of time manually indexing parts through their current welding machines in order to create the weld stitching patterns needed to assemble their Last Chance Filters. These filters play a crucial role in the ultimate safeguarding of critical components against both inherent and external contamination sources. The goal was to find a method to automate this monotonous aspect of the workflow.

What we delivered

Working in close collaboration with our partners, DPB Automation, our mission was to engineer and construct a resistance welder test rig that would mimic the manual welding procedure. Within just a matter of weeks, using our combined expertise in software, electrical engineering, and mechanics, we developed a prototype test unit.

The results

The unit that we developed proved the concept that they could reliably automate the resistance weld process, allowing their production team to optimise the quality and productivity of what they do. As a result, Porvair is well-equipped to meet and exceed the expanding requirements of the Aerospace industry, affirming their commitment to innovation and quality.
